Fortus members aim to provide the best possible service to Australian Seniors and in doing so, we need to collect sufficient information so that we can assist you make your decisions.
In doing so, we also understand how important it is to protect your personal information and this document sets out our Privacy Policy in relation to personal information that you provide to us.
Why we collect your personal Information
Fortus members collect and receive personal information from you in order to provide you with the service that we offer, including the lodgement of applications to lenders offering Equity Release products, or introductions to certain providers of Equity Release products.
How do we collect your personal information?
Where reasonable and practical Fortus members will collect your personal information directly from you.
How does Fortus use your personal information?
Your information will be used to make product recommendations to you, and if required, to then submit applications on your behalf and/or introduce you to Equity Release providers.
Your personal information may also be used to compile statistics and information in relation to equity release transactions.
How does Fortus obtain your consent?
We will require your consent in writing before we collect, use or disclose your personal information.
Who Is your personal information disclosed to?
We will only disclose your personal information to other parties who are necessary to provide you the best possible service. These parties may include (but are not limited to) lenders, providers and valuers. In addition, we will disclose your information to other parties where we are required to do so by law.
Direct marketing
From time to time we may use your personal information to provide you with current information about the equity release market, special offers that may interest you, changes to our organisation, or new products or services being offered by us or any company we are associated with.
You have the right at any time to request Fortus not to contact you or provide you with any further information about products and services and not to disclose your information to any other organisation for that purpose.
You may do this by calling Fortus. Fortus will not sell or provide your personal details to any third party for marketing purposes.
Updating your personal Information
It is important to our relationship that the personal information we hold about you is accurate and up to date. During the course of our relationship we may ask you to inform us if any of your personal information has changed.
If you wish to make any changes to your personal information, please contact us. We will generally rely on you to inform us if the information we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete.
Accessing Your Personal Information
If you need access to your personal information that is held by Fortus, you can contact Fortus.
In some situations where the information requested goes beyond a basic summary, a fee may be charged for access. This fee is used to cover the cost to the Fortus member for retrieving and supplying the information.
Information may be denied where the information may relate to existing or anticipated legal proceedings, where denying access is required by law, or where the request for access is regarded as frivolous and vexatious.
Should your request for access to your personal information be denied, we will provide a formal explanation for our actions in writing.
